InboxDollars is one of the most popular rewards websites in North America. The platform has millions of members, and since its inception, it's paid out millions of dollars in rewards.
If you're looking for an easy way to make money online, sites like InboxDollars also sound like great news.
But is InboxDollars legit? And can you actually make money and cash out with this leading paid survey site?
I signed up for InboxDollars and tested it out to find out. And this InboxDollars review is covering how the website works, its earning potential, and how to decide if it's worth it.
What Is InboxDollars?
InboxDollars is a popular get-paid-to site that pays you for completing a variety of online tasks like cash surveys, playing games, watching ads, and surfing the web.
The company has been in business since 2000 and is available in the United States if you're 18 or older. And it has several sister-sites, like Canada's DailyRewards and the UK's InboxPounds.
Prodege, InboxDollars' parent company, is also a massive player in the paid survey space. It ownsSwagbucks andMyPoints, two more popular sites like InboxDollars that let you earn rewards in your spare time.
Overall, InboxDollars provides a free and easy way to make money in your spare time. And out of all the reward sites I've tested over the years, it has some of the more creative ways to make money.
Is InboxDollars Legit?
Yes, Inbox Dollars is legit and offers numerous ways to make money. The website also has a 4.2 star rating on Trustpilot and pays its members on time.
When I tested out InboxDollars for a few days, I was able to earn money for completing a wide variety of tasks. And while I got disqualified from some surveys, most offers credited and paid me.
Just note that InboxDollars isn't a full-time online job or a serious income source. You can likely make $5 to $20 a day or so with this website, so don't expect a full-time income.
How Does InboxDollars Work?
I signed up for InboxDollars and spent 10 hours testing it alongside other survey platforms like Branded Surveys and Survey Junkie. You can watch my YouTube video which documents my entire experience if you're curious.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6cCosbcHpI
But in a nutshell, InboxDollars is pretty simple to use. You can sign up for free and then complete a variety of microtasks like paid surveys or paid gaming offers to make money. You then cash out after earning $15.
Let's explore all of the different earning options and how you cash out with InboxDollars!
1. Sign Up
You can sign up for InboxDollars for free if you're 18 or older and live in the United States. The platform is available on desktop and also has an Android and iOS app.
You create an account with your email address. Once you verify your email, InboxDollars also pays you a $5 sign up bonus.
This bonus is a nice touch, and I like that it deposits in your account instantly and that you don't have to earn a certain amount of money first to get paid.
2. Answer Surveys
Answering surveys for money is the main way to earn with InboxDollars.
Once you complete a basic demographic questionnaire, surveys begin appearing on your main dashboard. In my experience, surveys generally pay $0.25 to $3 and take around 10 to 30 minutes to complete.
Surveys often have some pre-screening questions, and you can get disqualified at the start of surveys. InboxDollars doesn't pay disqualification points, although disqualifications help you progress towards scratch tickets which can pay small amounts of bonus cash.
Overall, you can generally earn about $4 to $6 per hour at most by answering surveys in my experience. And surveys cover a range of topics, like entertainment and health, or even specific products and brands.
3. Play Games & Complete Offers
Another way to make money with InboxDollars is toget paid to play games and complete certain sponsored offers.
The platform works with numerous paid gaming apps and other companies and pays you to try different offers. This can be a fun way to get paid to download new apps or to sign up for various services. And you can find many offers paying $10 to $35 or even more.
As you can see in the screenshot above, InboxDollars is offering $35 for downloading and playing different cash games. I can also earn a few bucks for signing up for different websites.
You can even get paid to click or browse the web.Overall, the offer variety is pretty decent, and I like that there are some high-paying offers.
4. Watch Videos
If you want to generate passive income, InboxDollars has you covered.
This website lets you watch videos and ads for money. You can choose a genre of videos to watch, and InboxDollars automatically plays them and pays you with small amounts of cash every once in a while.
This isn't a massive earner, but it's an easy way to earn money on autopilot you can explore.
5. Scan Receipts
If you’re familiar with cashback apps likeFetch Rewards or Shopkick, you’ll be happy to know that InboxDollars has a similar option to help you save.
The platform has a “Magic Receipts” section that pays you for shopping at partner brands and then scanning your receipts for cash.
As you can see in my screenshot below, InboxDollars has receipt scanning offers paying $0.02 to $8 and from major retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Costco, and Target.
This feature offers ways to save money on brands you’re already buying anyway. And it's similar to the Magic Receipts offer that Swagbuckshas as well.
Plus, InboxDollars also has digital coupons to help you save more money as well. So, you can stack it with apps like Fetch Rewards or Ibotta to save even more.
6. Play Scratch Tickets
In addition to some of the other ways to make money with InboxDollars, there are also digital scratch tickets and other games to play online.
As you complete tasks, you progress towards scratch tickets. You can attempt $10, $25, and $100 tickets if you complete enough tasks.
However, don't get too excited at the earning potential. I've completed dozens of scratch and win tickets with InboxDollars, and the most I ever won was $0.05. Most tickets just pay $0.01 or $0.02 in my experience.
Granted, this is still free money. And if you get lucky, you could make a fast $50 to $100.
7. Shop Online
If you want to make money shopping, InboxDollars has an option for you.
You can find hundreds of cash back deals under the “Shop” tab. This section is similar to platforms like Rakutenand pays you with cash back for shopping at various partners. You can also apply online coupon codes to save.
And InboxDollars even has its own shopping extension, the Billy Button, that notifies you when you surf the web about shopping offers and cash-back opportunities.
I still prefer using extensions like Rakutenand Honey. But it's nice that InboxDollars is competing with various reward apps to help members save.
8. Search The Web
You’re already looking up stuff online, so why not get paid to do it?
InboxDollars lets you surf the web to potentially earn money. You can find this option under the “Search” section at the top of your dashboard.
Completing searches helps you work towards more scratch tickets and can pay bonus cash. It's a pretty easy InboxDollars hack to boost your earnings without much work.
9. Read Emails
You can also get paid to read emails and participate in special offers InboxDollars sends you. The company sends all sorts of paid offers and email-only deals to its members.
When reviewing the special offers, make sure you read the fine print. The earnings on those can be tempting, but some of them may require a subscription or financial commitment. Make sure you know what you are signing up for.
10. Refer Your Friends
Like other beermoney websites, InboxDollars also lets you earn referral bonuses for inviting your friends to join.
The InboxDollars referral program pays you 30% of your referral's lifetime earnings. So, if you invite someone to join and they earn $100, you get $30.
This is a pretty lucrative referral bonus. Although I wish it also paid some bonus cash as well.
11. Play Bingo
One fun way to earn with InboxDollars is to complete its Bingo-based challenges.
Occasionally, InboxDollars issues challenges to its members. As you complete them, you gain spots on a Bingo card that pays you bonus cash the more rows you complete.
You get up to $8 for completing a full board. I think this is a fun twist for this side hustle, although it's a lot of work to finish a board.
12. Complete Daily Goals
One final way to make money with InboxDollars is to complete your daily list of goals to earn bonus cash.
Each day, InboxDollars highlights several tasks you can complete, like answering a survey or surfing the web. You then earn bonus cash if you complete a certain number of goals.
As you can see in the screenshot above, I earned $0.03 by reaching my daily goal bonus. This isn't a massive amount of cash, but it's a nice incentive to keep using the site.
InboxDollars Rewards & Cashing Out
InboxDollars lets you cash out once you earn $15. And after your first payout, you can cash out at just $10 with future redemptions.
InboxDollars used to require $30 to cash out, so this is a massive improvement for the platform. Currently, InboxDollars rewards include:
- PayPal
- Gift cards to companies like Amazon, Google Play, Home Depot, Macy's, Target, and Uber Eats
- Prepaid Visa cards
- Check
You can also donate your earnings to select charities.
To request payment on InboxDollars, click on Redeem and then on Request Payment. Make sure your name and complete mailing address on your account is correct in order for the payment to be processed properly.
Payments can take up to three business days to process, so be sure to allow a little bit of time after cashing out. It's also important to note that Visa, check payments and some gift cards have a small process fee. Keep this in mind when choosing your payment method.
How Much Does InboxDollars Pay?
In my experience, InboxDollars pays a few dollars per hour at most. You can find high-paying download and shopping offers, but most tasks, like paid surveys, only pay a dollar or two at most upon completion.
How much you make with InboxDollars really depends on the types of offers you complete and how much time you spend.
For example, I made $10.50 after using the site for about 3 hours. Surveys were the main way I made money, and I think I could have earned more if I focused on some of the download and gaming offers.
For most people, I think making $20 to $50 per month is realistic if you complete some tasks while watching TV or in your spare time. Just don't expect to earn $100 a day or anything close to that with this site.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- There are multiple ways to earn
- The cash payment system is easier to understand than the sites that use points
- Receive bonuses for meeting daily goals or being on a streak
- Free PayPal cash payments are available
- An instant $5 sign up bonus
- Decent referral bonuses
- InboxDollars has a survey app
Cons:
- Low earning potential
- High cash out minimum versus many other survey sites
- InboxDollars doesn't pay much for survey disqualifications
- Surveys typically take longer than the time estimates in my experience
- Some payment options may have a small fee
Other InboxDollars Reviews
After testing out InboxDollars during a 10 hour survey session, I think the platform has made some massive improvements.
I like that it now takes $15 to cash out instead of $30. And the variety of earning options is pretty impressive.
However, one of the best ways to tell if an online side gig is legit or not is to see what other people have to say. And, thankfully, you can find lots of InboxDollars reviews on forums like Reddit where members share their experiences:
- Nimbette2 says: “I have made about $75 with them over the course of a year.”
- theGalPacino says: “I honestly do really well with surveys on there. Usually wait to cash out until I reach $60. Depends on how much I use the app each month, but typically I cash out $60 every other month.”
- One user says: “Takes forever to earn, and then even longer to get paid. Also, they like to suspend your account for simple mistakes.”
- diagonalannouncer says: “It takes me about a week to receive a paper check with them. You'll make your money on surveys, so if you're not into that, I'd avoid it. But I've made probably around $1000 with them over the past few years.”
As you can see, InboxDollars reviews are somewhat mixed. Some people find success by answering surveys and regularly cash out, and one member reports making more than $1,000.
However, some people complain that earning is slow and that it takes forever to cash out. And it's worth noting that you can get banned if you use a VPN and try accessing InboxDollars from outside the United States.
This InboxDollars review from YouTuber Ralph Durand also shares how InboxDollars works and what to expect in terms of earning potential.
Overall, I think InboxDollars is an effective way to earn money online as a beginner. But don't expect to get rich with this site or to cash out daily.
The Best InboxDollars Alternatives
I've been testing out survey websites for years since my phone farming experiment in college. And while I think InboxDollars is legitimate, I also think there are plenty of alternatives worth trying.
Some of my favorite platforms include:
- Swagbucks: Get paid to answer questions, shop online, play trivia for cash, download apps, and more.
- Branded Surveys: My favorite survey platform with a low $5 cash out minimum.
- MyPoints: A popular sister-website to InboxDollars and Swagbucks.
- Kashkick: This website lets you answer surveys and play games for PayPal cash.
- JumpTask: A versatile rewards website that lets you earn cryptocurrency.
- Survey Junkie: Another popular survey site with a $5 cash out requirement.
- Pinecone Research: A U.S. survey panel that pays $3 per survey.
I also made a video covering some of my favorite survey sites you can use alongside InboxDollars.
These apps won't make $5,000 a month or any type of full-time income. But they're a simple way to make a bit of side cash without any experience.
