Back in 2017, Selkirk introduced the first pickleball paddle to enable both power and control. The hybrid innovation, known as AMPED, quickly became a favorite among pickleball players nationwide who had previously had to choose between either a power paddle or a control paddle.
AMPED was the industry's first thick core innovation, coming in at 5/8” when all other paddles were 1/2” or less, and the first paddle to have power and control in one paddle. The original AMPED series delivered the power necessary to put away shots, alongside the control needed to dominate at the net, and, in doing so, forever changed the landscape of the sport.
In 2023, Selkirk Labs unveiled Project 005, a paddle that sought to combine what players love most about the VANGUARD Power Air and the Labs Project 003, delivering an iteration of what the future of a balanced power and control paddle could be, in an edgeless, open throat package. Following the launch of the 005, we took player feedback into great consideration and completely overhauled the paddle to improve it from all angles to deliver the AMPED Pro Air.
Fast forward to today: the AMPED Pro Air delivers a paddle that strikes a happy medium between power and control, giving players the familiar feel of an all-court paddle, while incorporating next-level technology to enhance power on groundstrokes, serves, and put-away volleys.
